Increase in the Prosumer tariff in Wallonia: what it means for you

Reminder: what is the prosumer tariff?

In Wallonia, if you have photovoltaic panelswithout a smart meter, you pay a tariff called“prosumer capacity”. It is afixed feebased on the power of your installation (in kWe), intended to compensate for your use of the network, especially when you inject current.

This tariff is often misunderstood… but it can representseveral hundred euros per year.

A slow but steady increase

CWaPE has confirmed that this tariff will increase in the coming years. Example withOres :

  • 2025: 82.04 €/kWe
  • 2026: 80.98 €/kWe (slight decrease)
  • 2027-2029: gradual rise to84.51 €/kWe

According to network managers, total increases range between+3 and +9 % over the period 2025-2029. It depends on your DSO, but the tendency is clear:prosumers will pay more.

Why this increase?

Authorities want to balance the funding of the network, as prosumers, even if they produce electricity, use the network to inject or consume later.

Moreover, investments in smart meterscompteurs intelligentsor the maintenance of infrastructure is becoming increasingly burdensome.

Concrete example

You have a 4 kWc installation with Ores as the DSO:

  • In 2025: €328 excluding VAT/year
  • In 2029: €338 excluding VAT/year

This is an increase of €10 per year… which adds to the increases in distribution, transport, and the cost of electricity itself.

How to limit the impact of the prosumer tariff?

Even if this tariff does not depend on your actual consumption, you canreduce the indirect effects :

  1. Switch from an analog meter to a smart meter (you will still keep the principle of compensation / selling and buying at the same price if you benefit from it beforehand)
  2. Maximize your self-consumption
  3. Value solar energy in ways other than injecting it into the grid

The solutionSolisecoallows you to convert your photovoltaic surplus into hot water, without changing your boiler or tank, and avoid wasting energy that you have produced yourself.

In conclusion

Between theprosumer tariffand theincrease in distribution fees, owners of photovoltaic panels need to rethink their strategy. The time when "producing = saving" without effort is over.

WithSoliseco, you take back control: every kWh produced is used intelligently, at home, for you.
